2020 Year in review

Together, our team and yours helped each other rebound. It’s been an honor to be your trusted partners throughout 2020. From endless Zoom calls made to discuss new strategies to countless emails sent, we got to work, and together we still managed to achieve something great.

The year of virtual events. While it wasn’t in our original plan for 2020, Bluetent hosted more than 30 webinars with 1,860 minutes of content. And during two breakfast (& lunch) seminars, 80 lucky participants were delivered either a pizza or cup o’ coffee. Here’s to (🤞) in-person events in 2021.

In 2020, our web design/production superheroes launched an average of eight new direct-booking websites a month — rounding out the year at just under 100 new Rezfusion Cloud, Pro, and Custom sites. Bluetent Insiders rave about our production team: you might say they’re “out of this world!” Check out a few (of many!) favorite launches of the year: Sextant Stays & Booe Realty.

We talked a lot about Google this year. That’s because it’s a trusted, proven platform that drives excellent results in even an average year — and 2020 was no average year for digital advertising. In fact, ads placed by Team Bluetent drove almost 4 million clicks to vacation rental websites, resulting in just shy of $54 million in total online booking revenue. Hold onto your hats: that’s a 2436% return on ad spend for our Bluetent Insiders!

The world of online travel marketplaces changes fast, and 2020 was no exception! Team Bluetent — and our best-in-class channel management tool, Boost™ — not only kept pace with innovations, we lead the way with our integration to Google Vacation Rentals. Our efforts have been worth it for our Insiders: they now have more than 38,000 listings on Airbnb, Booking.com, and Google. At Bluetent, it’s not just about the number of email campaigns we send, it’s about the results our Insiders achieve with those campaigns. Working together, our Email Marketing Team and Insiders averaged a 20% open rate with a whopping 17% click rate from the 40+ million emails sent in 2020.

2020 was a tough year across the board, and we can’t say we’re sad to be putting it in our rearview mirrorBut even in these tough times, we’re proud of how our platforms performed for our Bluetent Insiders: we accepted roughly $715 million in reservations, through direct and OTA bookings, in 2020.
